Introducing one of our great local ale and beer brewerys, Hopdaemon.
The Hopdaemon story all started in the early 80’s where Tonie Prins, the Hopdaemon himself, was ‘having a crack’ at a batch of homebrew at his student flat.
Originally from New Zealand (‘I’m just a homebrewer from Kawhia…’) he has developed a passion for traditional English ales and brewing methods.
Now settled in Kent, he pours that passion into his ales — to the benefit to all who drink them!
The Brewery akin to our values use the best local- grown ingredients resulting in the high quality and natural-brewed beers we know and love.
They brew a variety of beers and ale ranging from the Golden Braid; a refreshing golden session bitter with citrus hoppy notes, hints of marmalade and a crisp clean finish. This beer has won various awards including Gold Award 2001, 2002, 2006, 2009 and Gold SIBA South East Region 2007.
To the Leviathan; a strong ruby ale with spicy hop aromas and a rich malty finish. Brewed from the finest malted barley and Kentish hops this ‘BEAST’ of a beer is deceptively easy-drinking for its strength and is conditioned naturally in the bottle to produce a sparkle and sediment characteristic of all great living beers.
We highly recommend the Hopdaemon beers and ales, if you are feeling curious, why not pop into The Windmill or Pearson’s and give it a go, we’d love to hear what you think!
