Here are some words from the artists about what will be displayed…

George Rouy:

“My work creates a dialog between image and process that lends itself to both conceptualism and formalism. The content is based around idealism, pulled from existing drawings found on the Internet, which I then manipulate. Using an illustrative style keeps the narrative very clear and readable for the viewer, as the line forms simply denote the subject they are depicting. In addition to this the form also allows the viewer room to consider their own interpretation of the narrative, which is aided by the interplay of reoccurring ideas within the history of painting, namely vanitas, phallic representations, gender and fertility.”

SpareSimon Spare:

“The evidence of man’s presence in the landscape can at times be complementary to it, and it is at this meeting point, the human with the natural, where my interest lies – a ploughed field on chalky downland, a bridleway cutting across a hillside, the line of an ancient hedgerow. These lines, and particularly the maps I use to negotiate them, form the basis structure on which I work. Spending time each day walking in nature, I become sensitised to it – the smells, the sounds, the colours – my legs and lungs define the topography.”
